March 2014 Meeting

We are such a silly bunch having our March meeting in April! Oh well :-)

We met at Reba's house and started with a lovely lunch of lasagna, salad, garlic toast, apple dumplings and cookies, YUMMY.

Reba gave a demonstration on DAK and DBJ.

Kim, Barb, Elaine, Sherry, Leigh and BJ drove down from Illinois. We got to see Margie, long time no see! AND 2 new faces! Margie brought her friend Darlene who had never seen a knitting machine and we were joined later by Bee from Lithuania who wants help returning to machine knitting.  Had a little bit of show and tell.

We discussed our travel plans for the Spring Fling Seminar in Peru, IN, we have SIX going this year :-)  By the end of the day we had 10 in attendance, a meeting record I think!

February 2014 meeting

There just wasn't enough days in the month of February so we actually held our meeting on March 1st but we are still considering it or February meeting :-) We started with lunch and chit chat time. Followed that with the treasurer's report and show and tell.

Reba showed us how she came to desire learning Double Bed Jacquard to get rid of those pesky floats and she had some wonderful samples!  She has learned it very well.

and a lovely sock looking for a mate ;-)

Elaine is making one of her granddaughters a blanket on her 200 needle extended bed Bond with a hand knit garter stitch border

BJ has been making hats for the local Women's Center on her Bulky

Then we set up our machines for a knit along. We did the surprise Easter chicks pattern posted here.

Elaine did hers on her baby Bond

Barb did hers on her new KH400 Convertible in the bulky mode

Kim did hers on her Brother Bulky

Our next meeting will be at Reba's house so she can show us DAK and double bed jacquard!

January 2014 Meeting

We started the New Year going gang busters with 3 demonstrations!  First we had lunch and chit chat.  Then came Show and Tell.  Elaine has been very busy knitting lots of warm, pretty hats for her charity.

She showed us how she knits them the "mile a minute" method

BJ had a couple of hats also, she was learning her "new to her" Electronic Bulky 270

and a lovely scarf also made on the Bulky, but with yarn usually used on a standard gauge

Also, a neat little tool she found on Amazon to help with picking yarn loops off of gate pegs! A lighted dental tool!

Kim showed us how to knit her beautiful ruffle yarn scarf on the bulky. I love the sequin yarn she uses as the main yarn :-)

Elaine gave a hat demonstration on her "baby" Bond, she is such a good teacher!

And I loved the demonstration of the little flower to put on the hats !

Leigh (a non machine knitter-for now) wanted to try her hand and she made a child's hat on Kim's bulky

 and learned the mattress stitch!

Lastly, we got Kim's motor all lined out and tested and she learned how to use the electronic patterning on her Brother Bulky 270!  We had a full and wonderful meeting.
