October 2014 Meeting

We had a wonderful meeting October 25th.  Kim's bunny is becoming our mascot!

We had a sack lunch and visit time, followed by show and tell with Sherry's hats she made for the Vets. She has been one busy gal!

Sherry also showed us her ear flap hat and we liked it so much it is going to be our workshop for the November meeting!

Elaine did a wonderful workshop on a circular wash cloth.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the colors on this one!

Elaine also showed us a great knot for joining yarn (pardon my horrible video work)

Next meeting is November 22nd for the Ear Flap hat, hope to see y'all there!

September 2014 Meeting

The Pattern for this meeting was the famous, classic All Together Sock by Heidi  as taught by Elaine! This is perfect for the Bond and all other Bulky Machines.  Here are some pictures of everyone working very hard!! Some are so focused on what they are doing they blew their "cheaters" askew!

We all brought a sack lunch instead of a potluck this meeting.  We had some lovely show and tell from Leigh.

Sherry reported she had volunteered to make hats for the veterans in the nursing homes and Veteran's home. So far she has completed 49 hats, has 6 more ready to sew up and one more on the machine. Only 35 more to go, for a total of 90 hats! Thankfully, one of the women in her VFW Ladies Auxiliary donated 3 garbage bags of yarn, so she should be able to get most, if not all, made from free yarn! Can't beat that! Thanks, Elaine, for showing us how to make the "charity hat" at the last meeting!

July 2014 Meeting

We started out with an awesome Italian Beef Pot Luck lunch.  Leigh's husband Bernie made us a huge pot of Italian Beef!! Others brought buns, chips, pickles, peppers.  Sherry made a lovely fresh tomato salad with mozzarella and basil.  To top that all off Kim made BLACKBERRY DUMPLINGS!!!!! that we smothered with vanilla ice cream (to cut the sweet as we say in the south!)

Can you tell I was smitten with the blackberry dumplings :-)

We had some show and tell.  Sherry had been busy making 14 minute slippers

Bottle cozies

and a beautiful scarf out of some very lovely sparkly yarn!

Since our last meeting Leigh bought 2 Bonds, one for her and one for Doris, so we split off with Elaine giving Bond lessons

They were very busy and intent most of the time, but you can see the look of happiness on Leigh's face as she got something right!

One the other side of the room we worked on baby Mary Jane slippers on the bulky.

Everyone learned at least one thing and sometimes it was by making mistakes, which is I think can be the best way to learn!
